High School (Grades 7–12)

High school is a time of great change and growth as you learn about yourself and the world around you, make lifelong friends and memories, and learn from teachers and books. And it will be a lot more fun when you make the time to get involved!

Dual Enrollment

Austin Area School District has agreements with both the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford and Northern Pennsylvania Regional College to award college credit from coursework completed in many subjects. These courses are both face-to-face in our classrooms and online during our regular school hours. To learn more information regarding dual enrollment registration, tuition, prerequisites, transferability, or matriculation, visit our School Counseling page.

Leader in Me

Along with the preschool–6th grade students, the 7th–12th grade students are learning about and implementing the leadership program Leader in Me. The 7th and 8th grade students are focusing on learning The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. A number of high school students (grades 9–12) were selected to be on the Student Lighthouse Team. The Student Lighthouse Team identified three areas to focus on – the physical space of the school, including decorations and student spaces; building community within the school; and reaching outside of the school to do community service. Each of the high schoolers were chosen to be on a team that highlighted their strengths. Here at Austin, we believe every Panther is a leader!

Technology

Technology is an integral part of education in our district. We are 1:1 with iPads in preschool through 1st grade and 1:1 with Chromebooks in grades 2–12. Each classroom is also equipped with an interactive Promethean Board. Technology is utilized throughout our building to enhance both teaching and learning experiences. Being 1:1 allows our students to collaborate more easily with peers and teachers, receive personalized instruction, access digital textbooks, online resources and education software, as well as complete assignments electronically. It is our goal to enhance learning as well as provide our students with the skills they need to succeed in the digital age.
